<itunes:summary>Sad news from the online bingo world. Bingodrome.com is ceasing operations effective immediately. According to their email (see below) due to the new UIEGA law and the fact that the U.S. is putting the squeeze on payment processors they are unable to continue operating without U.S. players. It's unfortunate since Bingodrome provided an excellent bingo experience for it's players.

For Bingodrome players I suggest you check out Bingo Tide. They are also a Parlay Software shop so the bingo and casino games will be the same. I just contacted Bingo Tide management and they're still happy to accept U.S. players.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>The arrest of Neteller founders Stephen Eric Lawrence and John David Lefebvre has sent shock waves through the online gaming community and has forced Neteller's InstaCash option out of the U.S. market effective 01-18-2007. You can read Neteller's brief press release here. This is sad news for online bingo fans since Neteller is one of the top choices for funding your bingo accounts now that most financial institutions won't allow gambling wagers to be processed via credit cards. Stay tuned for the latest solutions to continue playing at your favorite bingo site.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>It's funny how a lot of folks, especially those in casino affiliate business seem to think that a Democratic controlled Congress will change things.  It won't.   The UIEGA was passed overwhelmingly by members of both parties so don't look for any changes.  For the player you can still play bingo online.  UIEGA doesn't make it illegal plus there is 200+ days left before the law kicks in so don't worry about it.  Bingo all you want!  :-)  So the power shift in D.C. is in full fling but the anti-Online Gambling sentiment will continue.  It's an easy target with a lot of shoddy characters.  Have you ever been ripped off by an online Casino?  More than likely, you have.  They make up excuses about this or that but in the end that is what it is.  So it's easy for congress to pick on this industry with the full support of the Las Vegas Offline gambling industry and the Indian Casinos.  They want the monopoly to continue so they back UIEGA type of legislation.  Democrats and Republicans will do anything to get elected and taking a "stand" against online gambling is an easy target!</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Okay, I've given you the facts behind Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) in this post.  In my next post, I shared the good news that my top five pay to play sites are continuing to business as usual despite UIGEA.  Now I'm going vent a little!  I find it so hypocritical that Congress goes after online gambling yet it's okay to travel to Las Vegas and gamble.  It's okay to visit Indian Casinos and gamble.  It's okay to gamble buying state sponsored lottery tickets.  But to gamble online, oh that must be stopped!  There are three forces at play here, those who oppose online gambling because of their moral - religious beliefs, the protectionist, and the offline gambling lobbyists.

The Moral Angle

I'll have to say one thing about those who oppose online gambling because of moral issues, at least they are absolute about their beliefs and they don't say it's bad to gamble online but it's okay to gamble in Las Vegas.  At least they want to make all types of gambling illegal!  Even though I disagree and I don't like anyone forcing their beliefs onto others at least they are sticking to the concept that applies on all forms of gambling.  Even though they are being used by politicians for votes this upcoming election in November.

The Protectionists

This one is simple, if you are so concerned about losing tax revenues and dollars to the foreign countries that welcome online gambling businesses, then regulate it in the U.S.!  Taxes would be collected, jobs created (call centers, etc.), and money would be made by U.S. based companies.  North Dakota Republican State Rep. Jim Kasper is one of the few politicians that sees the opportunities.  As Rep. Kasper says, "My fellow Republicans just don't get it" when it comes to Internet gambling.

"The people of our nation want to do what they want to do in the privacy of their living rooms," Kasper told internetnews.com. Rep. Kasper tried to make it legal in North Dakota by introducing a bill that would legalize poker for online casinos that are willing to relocate their business to North Dakota.  Rep. Kasper sees it as a win for the state since it bring in millions in revenue to the states in taxes and jobs.  A requirement would be for the online casinos to use North Dakota's state-owned bank as a measure to protect gamblers and safeguard against money laundering.  Money laundering is a rallying call of the fear mongers against online gambling.  Rep. Kasper's bill was killed form pressure by the DOJ but he is planning to introduce the bill again.  Read internetnews.com interview with Rep. Kasper here.

I had the pleasure of hearing Rep. Kasper speak at a casino affiliates convention last year and the man is right on the money!  It's not the governments business to tell you what to do with your money in the privacy of your home!  And for those who think this the work of the Republicans, it is not.  Even though Sen. Bill Frist snuck UIGEA into another bill, it has wide support by democrats as well.  The bills was overwhelmingly passed by both sides in Congress 317-93.  By 73% of congress voted yes.  You can see the roll call here.  It's sad that the Republican party which has a rich history of being against big government has turned it's back on those principals to get votes.

Offline Gambling

It's no secret that offline gambling lobbyist have long pushed to make gambling online illegal.  They don't want you to log in and play slots online.  They want you to go to their smoke infested casinos and gamble.  Las Vegas has long pushed for this type of ban and they must be ecstatic about the UIGEA.  I can't use my U.S. based VISA card to gamble online but I can max it out at one of the many ATM's kindly provided at the offline casinos in Las Vegas and the Indian Casinos.  They offline gambling PAC's are very powerful and they are serious about protecting the offline casinos.

It is this hypocrisy that drives me nuts about the pas</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Well, President Bush signed the port authority law (a very much needed port security law which Sen. Bill Frist shamefully snuck in the gaming law since he knew the port security law would pass).  Now that this is law in the U.S. a lot of people are worried that now that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 is law that it will be illegal to wager online at your favorite bingo website.  First, that is not the case and the UIGEA does not make it illegal to gamble online period!

You can read my post explaining this in detail but don't take my word for it.  Go here to read the actual bill.  A lot bingo and casino operators have reacted by closing the door to U.S. players which is asinine.  Unlike most non-gambling / free bingo sites I don't push every bingo hall online.  I have a handful of online bingo websites that I like to play and those are the ones I recommend.  I always check out new bingo sites but I only recommend five at one time.  Click this link to see my top five pay to play bingo sites.

Now with this new legislation being signed into law in the U.S., I contacted each of my top five pay to play sites to see how they were responding to the new anti-gambling legislation recently passed.  I'm happy to say that ALL five are continuing to conduct business as usual and they will not turn down U.S. based players!

So if you're looking for sites that aren't leaving their players out on the street because of the new law you need to look no more then my top five. </itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>As an online bingo fan, I'm sure you have heard all about the recent legislation passed by the U.S. Congress on called Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act HR 4411.  First let me get straight to the point - this legislation does not make it illegal for you to gamble online.  Period.  The rumors are flying and some casinos had a knee-jerk reaction to this law passing the U.S. senate.  Some have stopped taking wagers from U.S. players which is ridiculous.  Talk about turning their back on their loyal players!  This new legislation which is expected to be signed into law by President Bush is going after the financial institutions to prevent them from processing gambling transactions.  You can read the law yourself by clicking this link.  It should be noted that most financial institutions already are refusing to process transactions from online gambling sites, they have been doing this on a volunteer bases for years.  That is why 80% plus of credit card transaction for gambling end up being declined online.  This law will just now make it law.  U.S. based financial institutions will have 270 days to implement this so even once it's law it will be about a year before it's enforced.  But even once this is law it does not make it illegal for you to fund online gambling accounts.  Far from it.  You can still use online funds transfer services from companies like Neteller, we strongly encourage use you to open an account with Neteller to minimize any possible inconveniences.

So don't panic, no one will be breaking down your door nor will the online gambling industry be going Napster after you.  You can still play at your favorite bingo websites.</itunes:summary>
